NEW ERA FOR SHARKS ELITE COMPETITION:

The Herbs of Gold Super League is set to explode, with Game 1 tipping off on Tuesday, 23 April 2024. The competition has 8 men’s teams and 5 women’s teams that will each battle it out to win a $3000 cash prize.

Competition Manager Michael Bills expressed that he is excited by the talent of the teams nominated their teams for the new competition and feels that The Herbs of Gold Super League will have the highest level of competition ever to be seen within the association.

Head of referees, Tom Marsh states “The Herbs of Gold Super League offers a huge facelift, an unprecedented standard of competition, and an elite environment for our players, spectators, referees and coaches to showcase their talents and battle it out for a juicy pot of gold!” Tom is looking forward to the step-up of the competition with the extra investment of passion and dedication within our domestic league.

Tom is eagerly anticipating the reveal of the new referee uniforms, stating, “We have put a lot of work into sharpening up our referees at our elite domestic level, and it will be great to see them looking just as sharp in the new uniform.” Tom has also expressed that the referees have been working hard on their development as a team and that the introduction of 3 person officiating to the league where possible will mean that the players can perform to their highest standard. He states the referees are feeling ready and keen.

As a new initiative, Sutherland Basketball Association will ensure that score benches in the Super League Competition will be provided each week, and Michael is hopeful that throughout the competition, more people will see the excitement in scoring for games and perhaps one day join him in scoring on the bench of NBL1 games.

Finals will be held in September when the winners will be crowned Super League Champions.

Nominations have now closed for the competition. However, serious enquiries about playing or scoring can be made to Michael Bills at competitions@sutherlandbasketball.net.au
