The High-Performance Program (HPP) is Sutherland Basketball’s advanced development pathway for high-achieving male and female athletes aged U16 (bottom age) through to U20. The program is designed to prepare players for the highest levels of competition, including NBL1, State teams, National Championships, international opportunities, college pathways, and professional leagues.
Athletes selected into the HPP gain access to an elite training environment featuring experienced coaches, world-class development methods, and a fully integrated sports science model. The program includes specialised training in Skill Development, Strength & Conditioning, Performance Psychology, Leadership, Nutrition, Wellbeing, and Game Strategy, delivered in partnership with PCYC Sutherland. It is a comprehensive, year-long performance pathway created to maximise each athlete’s long-term success.
Selection for the High-Performance Program occurs through a combination of:
-
Emerging Sharks Trial performance (for U16–U18 athletes)
-
Ongoing evaluations throughout the year
-
Coach recommendations
-
Demonstrated commitment and readiness for elite training
-
Performance history and developmental trajectory
U20 athletes do not trial and are instead considered based on coach feedback, performance evaluations, training history, and overall suitability for the demands of the program.
To be considered, athletes must first be a 2026 Sharks Representative Player.
The High-Performance Program costs $1200 for the full 12-month program.
This fee includes:
-
A minimum of two elite training sessions per week
-
PCYC Sutherland gym access
-
Strength & Conditioning support
-
Performance Psychology and Wellbeing sessions
-
Leadership and Nutrition education
-
Game Strategy and advanced skill development
-
Access to highly experienced coaching and athlete mentors
-
A fully integrated, professionally supported athlete development model
Training will run across the full 12-month program, and confirmed schedules will be communicated directly to selected athletes once court availability and partner scheduling (PCYC Sutherland) are finalised. Updated information will also be published on the SDBA website.
