The Sutherland Sharks are thrilled to announce the signing of superstar forward Abigail Curtin for the 2026 NBL1 East Season.
Curtin, a 6.1 forward, placed 5th in the 2025 NBL1 East MVP voting while playing for the Sydney Comets, where she averaged an impressive 23 points and 10 rebounds per game.
Abi arrives at the Sharks in superb form, having recently completed playing an extensive role for BNZ Kahu in the New Zealand National Basketball League.
Abi, a dynamic basketballer, can play multiple positions and can impact a game in many ways. Her arrival will form a deadly partnership with sharpshooter Maddy Norris and point guard Ella Dent as the Sharks high octane offence gains another key piece.
Sharks General Manager Adrian Dark said, “This is a huge acquisition for our club. When we recruit a player, we recruit not just the basketballer but also recruit ‘good culture’ people, and Abi is just that. Since the day she arrived, she has been an absolute professional in everything she has done and has bought into the Fin’s up culture here at the Sharks. Abi forms part of an exciting women’s group, and I think Abi will have another great year in the NBL1 East and I can’t wait to see her in the Sharks uniform.”
Catch Abi and the rest of the Sharks Men’s and Women’s teams as they battle the Sydney Comets on opening night at the Shark Tank, Saturday, 28th March. Women are at 5 pm & Men are at 7 pm.
