The Sutherland District Basketball Association are thrilled to announce the signing of experienced forward Lucas Walker for the 2026 NBL1 East season.

Walker boasts an impressive resume, having played 10 seasons in the NBL, including a championship in the 2017 season with the Perth Wildcats. This will not be the first time Walker has graced the hardwood in the NBL1, having previously turned out for the Illawarra Hawks in the 22 and 23 NBL1 East seasons.

Walker will slot into an already impressive forward rotation boasting the likes of Luke Jamieson & James Hunter, and will add athleticism, experience and scoring punch into the Sharks lineup.

Sharks General Manager Adrian Dark said “Lucas Walker is a great person. He fits our group and our culture here at the Sharks, and when someone with his experience joins your club, you can’t not be happy. He is an athletic forward who impacts the game in so many ways. He can play multiple positions, shoots the ball extremely well and provides exceptional depth for coach Roger. It’s really exciting to have someone like Lucas join our club.”

Lucas and the rest of the Sharks Men’s team will battle the Sydney Comets on the opening night of the 2026 NBL1 East regular season at the Shark Tank Saturday, 28th March, Women 5pm & Men 7pm.
