In 2024, the SDBA board is changing its focus from a primarily inwards looking group, to externally focused.

What this means is that the board now has a management team in place within the association that has the “business” running well and in a position of self-sufficiency.

The Sutherland Shire Council (SSC) has begun a path for future development through its Leisure strategy which has been adopted in full in October 2023, we need to position the Association at the front of mind for the council to ensure our growth remains positive and our junior, senior and wheelchair athletes have an appropriate venue and facilities in the Shire to continue to grow and develop.

The board is now seeking members who have skills, knowledge and interest in working with the council, government and other key stakeholders as we go on this journey.

Funding, partnerships, development and planning are all key topics we need to be across in order to partner with the SSC to ensure our home, or future home is both state of the art and capable of supporting our projected future growth.

The SSC has released the Leisure Centre Strategy and implementation plan, this and the current SDBA strategic plan should be read and the focus for our future can be seen.

If you have a desire to help keep SDBA and its members on an upward trajectory and have skills, or the capability to help us on this journey, we urge you to nominate for the board of directors at the upcoming AGM.

We are on the precipice of an exciting future.
