The Sutherland District Basketball Association are thrilled to announce the signing of local WNBL superstar Lauren Nicholson for the 2026 NBL1 East season.

Nicholson returns for her fifth straight season with the Sharks, heading into NBL1 East in strong form after captaining the Sydney Flames in WNBL26.

A proud Sutherland junior, Lauren will form a deadly combination with fellow sharks junior Maddy Norris and new recruits Abi Curtin and Ella Dent as well as sharing the court with older sister Jacki for the first time in over 10 years.

Lauren, a huge fan favourite with the Sharks faithful, will spearhead the new look lineup with her on court leadership and extensive professional experience. Averaging a massive 37ppg and 6 assists in NBL1 East 25, Lauren is the definition of a league superstar and is ready to light up the TANK in NBL1 East 26!

Sharks General Manager Adrian Dark said “When you talk about Lauren Nicholson you talk about a once in a generational player. We are blessed to have Lauren with our club. She bleeds Black and Blue and she is an inspiration to our young athletes who aspire to be on this NBL1 stage in the future. In 2025 I saw Lauren experience being a mum for the first time and they say having children sometimes brings the best out of you and seeing her drop 50 last year at the Shark Tank is something I will always remember about her. I can’t wait for this season. The hunger and the drive is there for Lauren and the team and I think its going to be massive to have her around the club in 2026.”

Nicholson and the Sharks Women’s team will battle the Sydney Comets on opening night of the 2026 NBL1 East regular season at the Shark Tank Saturday, 28th March, Women 5pm & Men 7pm.
