The Sutherland District Basketball Association are thrilled to announce the signing of championship-winning centre and former New Zealand International James Hunter for the 2026 Season.

James comes to the Sharks via the Maitland Mustangs, where he has spent the last four seasons including a championship in NBL1 East 24. Hunter, known for his elite rebounding and interior presence, is a huge addition to the Sharks men and will bolster the lineup ahead of NBL1 East 26.

Sharks General Manager Adrian Dark said, “ When James informed me he and his family were moving to the shire, I was straight on the phone to our head coach to say we need to get this guy on our roster. James has extensive NBL, NZNBL and NBL1 experience, and at the centre position, that’s just something you don’t pass up. He is a wonderful addition to our club and I can’t wait to see James in the Sharks uniform.”

Catch James and the rest of the Sharks Men’s team as they battle the Sydney Comets on opening night at the Shark Tank, Saturday, 28th March. Women are at 5 pm & Men are at 7 pm.
