Role: Part time Bookkeeper

The Sutherland District Basketball Association (SDBA) – one of NSW’s largest and most respected basketball associations – is seeking a part time Bookkeeper to play a key role in managing the Association’s financial operations.

What You’ll Be Doing:
You’ll oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the Association, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
Key responsibilities include:
• Maintaining and reconciling all financial records, including income, expenses, and petty cash
• Managing accounts receivable and payable, ensuring invoices and payments are processed promptly
• Administering payroll and employee entitlements
• Overseeing the operation of the Association’s Xero accounting system
• Preparing and lodging BAS, PAYG, GST, and superannuation obligations
• Assisting with annual audits, budgeting, and financial planning
• Preparing monthly financial reports, journals, accruals, and reconciliations
• Supporting the General Manager to ensure financial compliance and best practice across the organisation

Who We’re Looking For:
You’re a reliable and self-motivated professional who enjoys structure and takes pride inaccurate, well-organised financial systems. You bring:
• Demonstrated experience in bookkeeping or financial administration (sporting or clubenvironment desirable).
• Proficiency with Xero and the Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience in BAS preparation and ATO submissions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
• A proactive, positive, and team-oriented approach.

Essential Criteria
• Proven bookkeeping experience and understanding of accounting principles.
• Experience using Xero (or similar accounting software).
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and reconcile financial statements.
• Understanding of BAS, PAYG, GST, and superannuation requirements.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.

Desirable:
• Experience working in a member-based or sporting association.
• Qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (or equivalent).
